Insur_space by MAPFRE launches the second call for projects of their acceleration program

The new open innovation platform pioneered by MAPFRE opens their second call for projects for their acceleration program. With this initiative, insur_space aims to identify the best startups and business ideas in order to create prototypes in the insurtech sector. The application for this Spring 2019 edition will be open until the 15th of January for all those that are interested.

The acceleration program is directed towards early stage startups and entrepreneurs who have an innovative business idea for the insurance sector. As part of the selection criteria, the applicants much propose an interesting idea with a technological base or an idea that will improve the internal processes of a large corporation. The program will last 4 months and includes workshops, mentorship, networking sessions, and support from the insur_space team. Each participant will have a startup coach will guide them in the development of a prototype.

The content of the acceleration program is based on 3 fundamental pillars. Knowledge sessions or technical sessions where the entrepreneur will receive holistic training to apply to their prototype; insur_inspiration or courses about relevant technological themes as well as courses by MAPFRE experts; and lastly Planning and Management, to provide effective follow-up to the projects during all the program, using Agile Development methodology.

The startups or entrepreneurs that want to participate, have the opportunity to apply to the program through the insur_space platform where they should propose a solution and the potential case of use for MAPFRE. The applications will be evaluated by a panel of experts of the acceleration program. The 20 best startups will formally present their prototypes during the Pitching Day. During this session, there will be a final evaluation and the participants will be chosen.

Once the participants have been selected, the acceleration program will begin on March 11th. The courses and activities have the goal of strengthening the knowledge of the teams, connecting them with the innovation ecosystems, and ensuring that the participants develop their prototype during the 4 months with the mentors. At the end of the program, the startups will present their results in a Demo Day where the success of each will be evaluated.

Through this program, insur_space hopes to promote the collaboration between the entrepreneurship ecosystems and MAPFRE, a partnership ideal for startups and entrepreneurs that are looking to scale solutions and technological products oriented towards the insurance sector around the world.
